Qualified candidates should be able to give 10 – 20 hours a month to help APCUG continue to help and support user groups. You are prohibited from running for both Boards at the same time, and current bylaws prohibit two members from the same user group serving on either APCUG Board at the same time (note this does not prevent a person from one group being on the Board of Directors at the same time as another member from the same group being on the Board of Advisors; you just can't have two members from one group being on the Board of Directors at the same time or two members from one group being on the Board of Advisors at the same time).

Directors manage the day-to-day operations of APCUG, and

  • Actively participate in the management and operation of the APCUG

  • Attend monthly teleconference meetings (the fourth Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET)

  • Attend the Fall APCUG meeting if possible.

  • Chair at least one APCUG committee and provide monthly reports of committee progress to both boards, and volunteer to work on other APCUG committees and/or events

Advisors communicate directly with APCUG member groups, provide input to the Board of Directors, and

  • Contact the user groups in their assigned Region on a monthly basis

  • Answer requests and questions from their assigned Region

  • Visit user groups in their assigned Region if possible

  • Work with the user groups in their assigned Region to keep the Combined Data Base (CDB) current

  • Attend monthly teleconference meetings (the third Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET)

  • Attend the Fall APCUG meeting if possible

  • Volunteer to work on APCUG committees and/or events

  • Attend any regional events in your region if possible

If you are interested in volunteering to serve and help user groups around the world:

  1. Go to the APCUG web site http://www.apcug.net/APCUG/election04/electiondocs.htm to read the APCUG Code of Ethics and Non Disclosure Agreement. Send the appropriate message indicating your intent to comply with the two documents to or fill out the form here. The “appropriate message” wording can be found on the web site at http://www.apcug.net/APCUG/election04/electiondocs.htm#procedures. (If you are currently on either APCUG Board, you don’t need to “sign” these agreements again.)

  2. Submit a 250-word biography to and attach a photograph of the candidate as a graphic file (jpg preferred).

The above two steps must be completed no later than midnight ET on August 1.

If you are not interested in running for an office on either of the APCUG Boards, but know someone who might be, please send them a copy of this article for their consideration. Electronic versions of APCUG Reports are available from the APCUG web site at http://www.apcug.net/Reports/reports_index.htm.
