If CAP wins a Jerry Award, we will use the funds to further enhance our program to serve more of the needy community. In particular, we will provide training and tools so that we can further expand our volunteer base so that we can grow and help even more people.

Project Description:

CAP has been doing community service for over 10 years. We have assisted over 300 (that’s three hundred!) local non-profits to fulfill their missions using technology. That includes over 10,000 PCs donated and 15,000 volunteer hours.

We’d like to focus on one particular aspect of our program for the HowTo. With a long-term program like this, you need a steady supply of new volunteers to keep things going. We have had success with recruiting new volunteers and want to share these ideas with other groups.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of an ongoing project and we have had to be creative and open in our approach to getting new volunteers. All of these ideas may not apply to your particular situation but we encourage you to go outside your comfort zone and see what happens. It has worked well for CAP, the community and some of these “scary” groups that don’t seem so scary anymore once you get to know them.

So our HowTo is on How To get new volunteers from traditional and non-traditional areas.
