"Techie" Workshop
Claremont Seniors Computer Club - Californiar

Each week, Tom Deno and a team of “techies” run a computer workshop to help their members get the most out of their personal computers.  If members have a software problem or something seems to be wrong with their hardware components, the team may be able to help.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide a learning experience for club members and the “techies” that assist them.  The “techies” are all volunteers from the club; they endeavor to help with relatively minor computer problems.  They are not in competition with commercial repair facilities and will not hesitate to refer workshop participants to the professionals for major problems.

Computers will not be serviced if they are still under warranty (that may void the warranty).  The team can help install software that is owned, or freeware or shareware.  Members are expected to stay with their computers and perform as much of the servicing as possible with the help of the “techie.”

Everyone is welcome to the workshop, but Claremont Seniors Computer Club members always have priority.  Participants sign in with one of their friendly greeters who will direct them where to go.  Greeters also show participants around the facility and encourage them to join the club if they are not already members.  Membership is free and participants are invited to attend weekly meetings.  The CSCC also has classes to improve computer skills.

Problems and challenges are encouraged for Friday afternoons from 1-4 pm.  Mel Butler, President of the Claremont Seniors Computer Club, is sure that participants will enjoy the friendliness, enthusiasm and camaraderie.  They may even get their problems solved!
