APCUG Association of Personal Computer User Groups APCUG

Live Meeting Training

APCUG has a new service to offer to member user groups, Microsoft Live Meeting, which your user group can use to broadcast your General Meeting on the Internet. To kick off this program, I will be doing some Live Meeting Training on:

Depending on the turnout for those sessions, we will determine what the schedule will be for April. Let me know if you have any particular requests.

During these first classes, you will be playing the role of the attendee, watching a program that I am presenting, which will involve some of the time me using a power point slide show, and some of the time you will see my desktop, and programs I have running on it. The PPT I will be using will be available for you to download if you wish. You will hear me from your computer's audio, but I will not be able to hear you. However you will have the ability to ask a question by going to the top of the screen and clicking on Q&A and entering your question. I can reply privately, or to everyone.

If you believe this is something you may want to do with your user group, email me and tell me one of the future scheduled classes you will attend, and I will allow you to attend that class as a presenter, so you can see the extra power a presenter has. We can then set up a small test with just you and me, and perhaps a few others from your user group, to practice, before you try presenting to your user group. But once you get to that point you should be able to do a program as normal to those attending your group, but members unable to attend should be able to watch by going to a web address, just as you will be watching my class.

In order to participate you will need to download the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101733831033.aspx

To save time before the meeting, check your system to make sure it is ready to use Microsoft Office Live Meeting. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=90703

If you want a preview of LiveMeeting you may want to go to http://www.microsoft.com/uc/lmoc/r2/from_client/website/lmoc.html?product=LM&locale=en-us and watch some of the tutorials.

Then the night of the class go to http://sharepoint.apcug.net/default.aspx and there will be an announcement providing the URL. This time (for the March 2 class) I will give you the URL, which is https://www.livemeeting.com/cc/usergroups/join?id=CSD5WQ&role=attend&pw=w4%3At%3A89PC

That URL will work only for the session on March 2nd (first Monday) at 10pm EST, 9pm CST, 8pm MST, 7pm PST). Each additional session will have its own URL in the Announcement on the APCUG Sharepoint site.

If the url does not work go to https://www.livemeeting.com/cc/usergroups/join and Copy and paste the required information: Meeting ID: CSD5WQ
Entry Code: w4:t:89PC
Location: https://www.livemeeting.com/cc/usergroups

If you have not already signed up for access to the APCUG Sharepoint site, this would be a good time to do it.
