As this column is being written, changes are coming. As you may know, APCUG maintains an on-line database of our member groups. The database was created by former APCUG Advisor and Director Bill Rothermal about seven years ago. In its day, the database was a great means for member groups to update information about their group and its officers. The information in the database feeds the APCUG User Group Locator that web site visitors can use to locate a user group near them.

However, like anything on the internet and having to do with computers, it has become dated and badly in need of a face-lift. Later this year in the fall, APCUG expects to have the new database up and running. In the meantime, member group officers should watch for an e-mail to confirm their information and get any corrections made.

By the time the printed version of Reports reaches you, the User Group Locator on the APCUG site will have had a makeover that is easier on the eyes and has some better navigation. There are several groups which have members in more than one state. Groups like Capital PC User Group, Kentucky-Indiana PC User Group, Macon Users Group and Quad Cities Computer Society. For these four groups, information has been added so they appear in multiple states in the locator. If your group needs to be listed in multiple states, please send an e-mail to cdb@apcug.net.

If information on your group needs to be changed or updated, the President or APCUG Representative of your group can request a user name, password and directions be sent to them. All they need to do is to send an e-mail to cdb@apcug.net. Please include the full name of the officer, the full name of the group and the city where the group is located.

Thank you. See you next quarter.
